for the love of god – make it stop

Dear random woman in the movie theater last night,

It took every ounce of my being to refrain from getting up, bitch slapping you, and dumping my blue raspberry slushie on your head. You know how they ask you to ‘please silence your cell phones?’ The same goes with your trap. For the love of God – keep it shut. If you can’t keep yourself from the incessant gossiping and talking about how shitty your love life is for three hours, a movie theater isn’t the place for you. Next time you should try going to your friend’s house or going out to dinner. Anywhere but a place that 98% of the people there have the expectation of silence and enjoyment.  Thanks for making the most terrible movie I’ve ever seen worse. Do you ever stop?! Ahhhhhh…

shutup!

PS – You owe my husband an apology because I crushed his hand while holding myself back from saying something to you.

From: Blair (and I’m sure everyone else in the theater. They only turned and looked at you 50 times but you never got the hint.)

(Have any of you seen The Revenant? Seriously…. don’t. And yes, I still enjoy a blue slushie. You only live once, right?)

Oh my god. I canNOT deal with talkers. I’m surprised you didn’t say anything! I am definitely that person who will tell someone to STFU.

Why should I not see The Revenant?!

haha! You should come to the movies with me, I don’t hold back if someone is talking too loudly about non movie related stuff.

I don’t mind if someone is talking to someone else about what is happening in the movie and in a quiet hushed tone, but I reeeeeally dislike people talking about non movie related things in a not very quiet manner. I’ll tolerate it mostly if they do it quietly, but generally I say something.

I have no shame in standing up and shouting at them (literally done this on several occasions!) if they don’t respect other people in the cinema, I’ve even offered to give one bunch of teenagers their money back if they don’t want to watch the movie, they soon shut up! (^_^)

Okay, I’m too cheap to offer someone’s money back just because they are pissing me off, but I admire your dedication! Haha. I don’t really get bothered by people talking about the movie either. But it makes me want to stab myself having to hear about some random chicks dating life! People suck 🙂

Oh, my gosh. I laughed so hard when I read this, and then I applauded your restraint. Personally I would have socked her right in the mouth… or at least given her a piece of my mind. Some people are just so rude!

Ahhhh that’s so annoying! Major props for being able to not say anything. I think I would have blown up at them or left and asked for a refund. I avoid going to the movies because I can’t deal with talkers, chair kickers, people who sit next to me or in front of me when the theatre isn’t remotely full, people who chew their popcorn loudly, people who shake their cups and make ice noises, etc. I may be the last person in America who still gets actual DVD’s from Netflix so I can watch new releases at home and enjoy the luxury of the pause button.

This is definitely one of the main reasons I no longer go out to movies, besides the high prices now. I don’t have the patience and I probably would’ve said something. I always feel like the only one bothered by this behavior too and I really don’t understand that.

However, I’ve been known to flash dirty looks to someone behind me who won’t shut up, or tell someone to PLEASE stop kicking the back of my chair. But seriously, why are these people who want to listen to themselves talk, go to movies? There are bars for that and their own living room. And what about the person she was talking to? That person paid to listen to her yap? Ugh. I don’t get the behavior of some people.

Thanks for the mini review of the movie too. I’ll save myself from renting it as well. 🙂

There are some people out there that are completely oblivious of their actions. Whether it be narcissism, stupidity or both you can’t win. I want to bitch slap that person and I wasn’t even there.

  7. Coushatta says:

Wow! I would’ve complained and got her kicked out. That is crazy. People are so rude!!

I went to movie the other day and was talking my friends head off but this was before the movie even started. The peviews hadnt even started. This old lady kept glaring at us rudly. I got mad. Like lady mind your own damn business. The movie hasnt even started or peviews. I can be as loud as fuck until the peviews start then I shut the hell up… haha.

Saw the latest Star Wars recently – the woman behind us not only kicked my seat the whole time, but somehow managed to PULL MY HAIR at one point. What the actual fuck?
We only went because it’s Star Wars, duh. Prior to this the last movie we saw in a theatre was Avatar, which was voiced over by a couple of teen girls in high pitched giggles. I did shush them, it did no good. I’m very much done with the theatre.
I liked The Revnant, but just visually. Quite impressed how there were hardly any scene cuts – just one long-ass take that travelled all over the place (woods to water, even). Caprio should get something for his acting, too. Plot wise? Meh.

Oh my God that is one of my biggest pet peeves! I recently saw the new Star Wars movie and these two teenaged boys (whom had seen the movie before) decided that the last 10 minutes of the movie was the best time to start talking about some new video game that came out that day. Really? That was the best time to talk about that? I totally get your anger.

I will occasionally whisper a few comments about the movie during a movie. I work VERY hard to not disturb anyone when I do it and to limit the number of times I do it. The constant talkers drive me insane. I am a HUGE movie fan, so being in the theater is a near holy event. People like that need to be escorted out. Oh for the long lost days of movie ushers!
