About

Hey guys, my name is Blair. I’m not going to lie — I feel extremely awkward telling people about myself unless I’m asked a specific question, or it’s something funny. Which is pretty odd for someone who likes to write & blog. So, I’m going to just list out some basics for y’all… here we go:

I’m 28 29

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina

My husband’s name is Alex. We met when we were twelve years old and were friends for more than a decade before starting a relationship. We are an odd, nerdy, quiet couple who would much prefer watching Netflix all day than going anywhere close to representing a bar. Hell, we even got married in Vegas just to avoid commotion and attention.

I’ve lived in 7 different states. (MA, NJ, CT, NY, PA, UT, NC) If you’re curious… Utah was my unexpected favorite.

I have a 3-yr-old rescue cat named Pix and a kitten named Tora. They are filling the void until we have children. (Don’t worry, they won’t be replaced when our human kids come along)

I grew up in a small rural town in upstate New York where the cows out-populate the people.

I love school and heavily consider going back all the time. (Yes, I’m a nerd.)

I live by the simple idea that life can be a shit storm and is rarelyΒ easy. Always find humor where you can. It makes it a lot more manageable.

I’ll probably update this page when I can think of some more things to add. I’ll always answer questions if you post them below, though! Thanks for reading, guys.

    Dear ‘Shameful’
How nice you stopped by to read – and Like – my post today, the one entitled “Un-honorable Un-mentioned.” I appreciate each and every blog reader who shares their time with my writing. Stop by my website to read more about me, my art, and my memoir if you so choose – that’s my personal invitation as best I can make it so many miles apart from you! Meantime, I’ll check out your site in more depth. Thanks for making the connection!

    Hi Blair,

You’re crazy. I love it! Unlike most slice of life blogs here that border on bland and downright boring (I may include mine for it) yours is a nice sea breeze blowing inland, bringing with it the smell of salt and all those dead sea creatures.

Keep at it! I love cats too, this from a guy who lives in a house with 12 cats.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Well all those dead sea creatures fuel the cycle of life in the ocean.

My sister owns the other 10, mine would be just 2 of them. It’s a regular circus any time of day.

Even I love school. People think it’s insane of me to do that… “Grow Up!” But I’m like “Why the hell should I?” … If ever given a chance I too would like to go back to school.. I really believe those are the best days of your life!
Loved your thoughts and your blog! πŸ™‚ You’ve found a new subscriber in me already! πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

Thanks for dropping by my writing studio and opting to follow my work. I’m moving in a different direction this year, and other than opinion essays and poetry (because I’m not a poet β€” short feet), I will put alerts on my blog about work (normally short stories, novellas, and other such stuff) and ask you to email me if you would like to see and comment. My email address is on my About page. I’m doing this because every literary mag I research to submit something to has a no previous publishing criteria.

BTW: I have two nieces who live with their husbands and older children in Raleigh, and one second cousin as well. Re school . . . sounds like you are one of the lucky persons who have learned to love to learn, which was my teaching mantra. Never stop learning.

Thanks for visiting AHintOfLight.com. Where in upstate NY are your from. Anywhere near Syracuse, Binghamgon, Adirondacks? Keep going to school until you know more than they do. It shouldn’t take you long.

Thanks for reading….I’m a nerd too, maybe capital N. Care to say where in upstate; I used to live in western MA. Lived in Raleigh for 3 months on a school co-op and liked that area a lot. Well, ok, liked Durham more, but worked in Raleigh. Have 2 cats, too, but a bossy bird as well who chases them around as he doesn’t realize he could be lunch some day.

Hi Blair! Thanks for the follow! I too, am a Netflix junkie. Right now all the craze is, “Making a Murderer.” It is pretty good. My husband and I started binge watching it. Not finished yet but I would definitely recommend if you like criminal investigation stuff. I, too, like cats…well, pets in general. If I could live on an acreage or farm, I’d have pets galore! Looking forward to your posts. πŸ™‚

Thanks for following me! Your blog is one of my all-time favourites! I can’t go out in public anymore without thinking about that last poll you did!

Hiya, Thanks for the follow! I am digging your blog because of the shared interest in poop related conversations, cats, nerding out and rural upbringing. Have fun cat-wrangling at Disneyland! We’ve been there a bunch (used to work for Disney) and never saw one cat!

  12. tswme says:

Cheers for dropping by my blog TrySlimmingWithME! Looking forwards to checking out more of your blog, and of course, the cats…. Cats, are the most important thing, afterall ❀

Thanks for stopping by my blog “Compelled” and liking my post “When the womb runs dry.” I so appreciate it! I also posted about my cats not too long ago 😊 Blessings on your blog!

I like your blog name. The word sheep is such a funny word to me; you might want to check out my post called “Please Pass the Sheep Butt.” Thanks for stopping by to like Disguised Obscenities. One more thing, check out The Virgins, too.

OMG! Okay so I love “talking” in acronyms and capital letters, plus I abuse the use of exclamation marks!! SEE! But it’s the only way to get my feelings on the subject across without having to shout from two continents away! Anyway, I digress. Thanks for the follow and for stopping by my blog. And the OMG! was because I absolutely love your blog. In my mind, after the first post I read, was like instant FOLLOW! Plus my ghost cat Pushkin, threatened to leave me after more than 10 years together. πŸ˜›
Looking forward to reading more of your awesome posts.

First of all, thanks for the follow, but only because it led me to your blog. You are awesomeballs. I can say that because I am a guy. I like your dad because I agree with him — hookers do need love too.

Oh, and you’re going to hell. Slowly. Nerds go to hell slowly. I feel like I need to tell you that up front.

  17. Jake says:

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m glad you liked what you read. I’m still slowly figuring out my way in the world of blogging and it helps to have people stop by and like it.

It’s great to get an idea of what is going on in the heads of the upcoming generations. Really, I try to understand my grandsons, but you guys just live in a different world than we did. Not a very promising one, I fear. Carry on with the writing!
